I was surfing around reading write ups on Kaboom incidents. It seems that they all mention handloads. Anyone else notice this? Would this keep you from handloading?

Factory ammo has been reported as a cause as well. Glocks, which made KABOOMs famous have an unsupported chamber that is worse on some calibers than others, such as .40cal. This unsupported chamber led to their current fame. -
I have heard of WWB having issues as well, although this was second hand. Also squib loads could do almost as much damage. Just pay attention while reloading and shooting and you should be okay. I caught a squib load a few weeks ago, good thing i knew what it was before i fired a follow up shot.Comment

Kaboom's are 90% double/overcharge handloads. I also noted that 98% are attributed to a MANUALLY INDEXED PROGRESSIVE LOADING PRESS. (You choose the manufacturer!!)
The press is not faulty. But, if you get distracted with a manually indexed press, it is easy to double charge. With a AUTO-INDEXING press you significantly reduce you odds of mis-loaded a casing.
Just something to think about!Comment

That is exactly why my first press was a 650. I felt a little more at ease with the auto indexing system.
Also, if I was somehow able to double charge one of my loads, it would be very noticeable since it would probably spill over.
Just like has been mentioned before, you must pay attention when reloading.Comment

Just make sure you wear your safety glasses. Even factory ammo can have a double charge. I know a guy who blew up his gun with factory Winchester .22long rifle. Remember the recall a few months back. Winchester bought him a new gun. Always wear your safety glasses!Comment
