    A Bucket Of Brass

So I finally got around to reorganizing the reloading area in my garage. After consolidating everything, I have, among other things, a completely full 5 gallon bucket of .45 ACP fired brass.

Has anyone ever determined of how many pieces would be in it? I suppose I could weigh the bucket, weigh an empty bucket to get the net weight and then weigh a few pieces of the brass to get an average weight per piece and divide accordingly.

All I know is that sucker is heavy - trying to save my back a bit - Thanks

So approx 4,700 cases needing reloading. Not a bad problem to have

Also have about 2/3 bucket of 9mm, much less .38, & .44spl. Lots of good problems here!

I had this stuff all over the garage. Additionally, I "found" 2.5k .45acp berrys 230 that I forgot I had - was about to place a back-order for more! That's what happens with age I suppose.

They are OOS on 230 round nose. I'll keep them in mind though, thanks. How is their quality in comparison to the Berry's double struck? I've also been using Montana gold 115 FMJ in 9mm and they seem to perform very well.

A little over a year's supply for me and my wife. That's about what I try to keep on hand for everything these days.
I've seen guys with at least 10x that amount.

Berry's are also plated. I'm very aware of the difference between MJ and plated.

                        Weight of the .45 = 73.5lbs. 5,733 cases

                        Weight of 9mm = 42lbs. 4,914 cases.

Time to start turning this into ammo.

Sort out the small pistol primers from the large pistol primers.

I do that when I pick them up now. Almost learned that the hard way. One primer didn't quite feel right as it was seating. If I would have pushed back on the lever a little harder, it probably would have blown. Went thru the whole batch and found quite a few. This was back when the SP .45's were relatively a new thing and I hadn't yet trained my brain to look for them yet.

Thanks for the heads up though.
