    Glue boolits, range report.

Special thanks to Dutch3 for getting me the projectiles!

I just loaded up 5 of the glue projectiles and they worked great! They will be perfect for my wife and mom to play around with and get some practice. I am sold on these as a cheap, reusable alternative to full loads for a .38 special. I have not re-used the projectiles yet but they are in pretty good condition for another use.

By the way they are about as loud as a pellet gun

If you are curious, to load them take a clean deprimed case (no belling required), put a drop of oil on your finger and LIGHTLY lubricate the projectile and push it into the case and then push it to the bottom with a pencil eraser then prime the case. Shoot.

    Lube them:
    Push the projectile down:
Push projectile down with a tool that is smaller in diameter than the case mouth:
    Prime:
    Leave the birds alone:

You can also get rubber projectiles that do the same thing and are also re-usable. Tried your link, went 404 on me.

Maybe drop in some frog lube into the case and create self-cleaning and lubricating rounds ?

        Glue projectiles?

I've heard of wax bullets being loaded into brass like the case is a 'cookie cutter'. Never glue though.

I wonder if hot glue-gun sticks would fit a .38...

The projectiles were cast into .38 dies.

              I prefer canning wax --
Drill primer hole out to about 1/8" - mark case with nail polish or other means so it does not get used for a real load -
Press case into sheet of wax by hand -
              prime,
              and bob's your uncle

Am I missing the range report??? What distance did you fire them, did the primers back out of the case, how accurate?

Some glue sticks are the same size as 45acp. Just cut and load.

Not where I live. Same as discharging a firearm = against the law.

Whoops, I was a little excited and forgot a few details.....

The rounds were fired at approximately 15', a few of them key holed and accuracy was inconsistant, a couple deviated 6" from target. I did see last night after shooting some more that the primers DID back out a bit. Next round I will try another lubricant that will stay oily, and not push them down to the bottom. I noticed that the all purpose stuff was hard to keep on the surface of the boolit.

                          I did have one squib!

Wait... with no powder, they're all squibs aren't they? What did happen with that one?

I have tried the wax bullets in both a .45 revolver, and a .45 pistol. They seem to work better in the pistol. I suspect the gap between the cylinder and the collecting cone lets out too much pressure. But the wax works great in the acp pistol.....

No it wont.. you need to get a mould (which i did) and use that... I dont push them into the bottom of the case and i dont use lube... I have used the glue boolits now for about a week... I swear i need to stop cuz im blowing thru all my SPPs...
