I searched but can't find an answer but if I want to reload 45acp and 9mm I need to buy two of these? Will the larger one not work with 9mm?

Do you mean the casefeeder plate? Yes, you need to buy both plates. Wait until you start rifle and then you will need two more plates. -
Just the plate. I once had the same question.Comment

Putting my order in for a Dillion XL650 for pistol only, 9mm and 45acp. Do I have everything? I am a newbie so I have no tools already, is there anything I should add?

XL 650 Casefeeder large pistol plate
Dillon Powder Check
Dillon Roller Handle (Aluminum)

Dillon sells the presses set up for one caliber (that means that the "caliber conversion kit" for that caliber is included) but do not include the reloading dies because there are choices for that (such as if you want carbide or not). you buy the reloading dies separate. Then, if you want to change calibers, you buy the caliber conversion kit for that caliber and also buy the dies.
now, the caliber conversion kit includes many pieces to it, and some pieces are used in multiple calibers, so once you buy a couple conversion kits, you don't need to buy a complete conversion kit to be able to load another caliber. there are charts that show what pieces are needed for each caliber. for instance, .45ACP and .308 share the same casehead diameter, so many of the lower conversion parts are interchangeable. in that case, you'd only need to buy a couple extra pieces to be able to load both .45 and .308.
you may want to contact Brian Enos at brianenos.com for help. he is one of the larger Dillion dealers and will walk you though what you need to order. There really aren't any discounts on Dillon products (Dillon holds them to strict MAP AFAIK) but he will give you free shipping.
oh, and I'd suggest buying a quick change kit for each additional caliber so that one you get the toolhead set up for 9mm, you don't have to tear it apart for when you do .45.
and if I am going to spend more of your money, you want to get a second primer system so that you have one for small primers and one for large primers.. that way when you switch from 9mm to .45, you just swap out the entire system and not have to "rebuild" it for the other size.Last edited by ke6guj; 08-15-2013, 2:55 PM.Jack

You don't need the Low Powder Sensor since the powder measure is at eye level. Might want to think about the following more primer pick up tubes, Primer Flip Tray, Spare Parts Kit, an Electronic or Beam Balance Scale and a couple of reloading manuals (Hard Copies)Putting my order in for a Dillion XL650 for pistol only, 9mm and 45acp. the reason they recommend the 550 as a starter is that if you get out of sync, the 550 is easier since it doesn't auto-advance. the 650 does. But IIRC, it is easier to accidentily double-charge on the 550 since it doesn't auto-advance.
he 650 is nice since it has an extra die station so you can run the powder check. you can't do that on the 550. for straight-walled handgun rounds, the powder check isn't as important since you can usually see inside, but on a bottle-neck cartridge, it is almost impossible to see inside it.
and yes, buy the spare parts set so that if you break or lose something, you just pull out a spare from the kit and get back running. the next day you can call dillon and get a replacement (free if it broke).Jack
