Why is it that some folks have such a hard time calling the things that emerge from the end of a gun's barrel bullets?
What is a "projectile"?

i experience the oposite problem of people calling cartridges bullets when the bullet is a component

projectile is a broad term that can include shot and slugs

i also dislike when i hear the term missile about for things such as thrown rocks

^yea. projectile is a more broad term. Reloading suppliers dont sell projectiles...they sell bullets.

I don’t see the problem with projectile… because that’s exactly what it is…

When talking to people who don’t reload, I often refer to them as projectiles, because in their mind the bullet is the complete cartridge.

...that's easy... 'bullets' are generally made by commercial manufacturer's for commercial sale, and 'boolits' are generally cast bullets made by reloading enthusiasts for personal use.

I've almost always cast bullets. I think it depends on where you live.

This is a lovely discussion to have with the former cheerleader-turned-TSA agent on her first month on the job at Boise airport when she finds your few boxes of barnes bullets you just bought at Cabelas before heading back to the airport. In Boise! Boise!!

I ended up waiting in the back next to a guy with a duffel bag filled with fishing supplies, mostly hooks and sinkers. Not joking.

Semantics NOT aside, bullets start to become called any possible word OTHER than bullets to get the point across.
