I recently had a similar question. It sounds like you are getting very close and the variation could be any minor thing, including how tightly you're holding the calipers!

Should be fine. When I initially set my coal at 2.250, I usually get variations from 2.247-2.255 and it all shoots with no ill effects. These are for load charge that are between min/max.

You'll be fine. I've gotten .005 to .010 and never had any problem. There are several factors that come into play for the variations. The bullet's nose profile is not uniform, bullet's lenght is not uniform, the bottom part of the brass has a burr or un-evenness, dirt on the contact face of the caliper, caliper's dial gauge is not calibrated.

I wouldn’t worry about it and it sounds normal to see that when measuring from tip to tip.

Personally I only use COAL is a rough guide when bullet seating. I almost always see some variation even when dealing with match projectiles.

A measurement which would be more of a concern if I saw large variations is from the bullet ogive to the case head. When using a competition seater and good match bullets, and a bullet comparator attachment I can pretty much see next to zero variation from cartridge to cartridge when measuring from the ogive.

Primers which were also seated high can obscure the measurement so it’s something to take note of.

2.200" is pretty short for most .223 bullets, especially a 55gr. Better range to work in is 2.220 to 2.240. 2.255-2.260 is about as long as you want to go for safe magazine fit in AR's
