Gun Show Question

I've never attended a Crossroads of the West Gun Show. So please forgive my ignorance.........

Will I be able to pick up some reloading supplies?

I plan on starting to reload .223 later this month and was hoping I could grab some of my supplies there

There's usually some, but you'd probably be better off looking online.

Gun Shows at O.C. Fairgrounds typically will cost you about $5 to park and $15 admission. Then waiting in a long line to get in only to wait in a long line to buy ammo or components. When you finally get waited on, they are out of whatever it is that you want. Most of the stuff is at or above retail price, so you aren't saving anything.

IMO, you're better off to save your shoe leather and the gun show admission money and spend it at your LGS or buy off of the internet.

If you get in early, look for the Miwall booth. They normally have primers and powder. It just depends what exactly you are looking for.

Or, check out/watch powder valley (http://www.powdervalleyinc.com). Once things mellow out a bit more, they are a great source for powder and primers

I'm starting from scratch so I will be purchasing everything in the next 2-3 weeks.

I seem to see all the powders out of stock atm - So I was hoping this may enable me to kill two birds with one stone as I'm after a Mosin and figured I'd try my luck at the gun show.

save your money for the big reno shows.get a room at the grand sierra,stay and have a good time.crossroads is a waste!

Before you do anything buy the Lyman Reloading Manual #49 and READ it. It will answer most questions and give you a good idea as to what powders etc will work for you.
I only load 40-55gr bullets and use Win748/Benchmark(40gr bullets)/H335. I always use Mag primers in all loads. Been loading for many years without any troubles. I shoot little tiny groups and use the rifle/pistol for squirrels etc mostly. If I want heavier bullets I have other rifles/pistols which are better suited to 75-90+ gr bullets. Others may do things differently and it may work for them also.

You can be the first one into the show and the line to the Miwall table will still be an hour long. The vendors and friends line up while the rest are outside....

yes, I have friends that know vendors and they have offered to get me in under the vendor's name to get in the ammo line early before the show opens.

Powder and Primers were at the last gun show in Vallejo, Ca. Primers were a deal, powder not so much.

The SF gun show is larger and usually has them also. Getting bullets (projectiles), brass, and dies is tough however.

Also, at $30+lb for powder at the shows plus parking plus entry fee, I'd order online and wait the month or so to get here. If you order enough the HAZMAT fee of $28 is waived usually. Get some buddies involved in a group buy.

I'd rather pay $22-$26 per pound of powder INCLUDING Hazmat fee then get bent over the rail by some of our so called "fellow" firearm owners and sellers pedalling $40 1lb jars, its disgusting and pisses me off.
