.277 Hunting Bullet Recommendations

So Hornady has stopped producing their .277 140gr BTSP and I'm looking for a replacement. Might be time to upgrade the technology and go with something polymer tipped, or not?

This is for a .270 Win. I'll be using it for deer and pigs. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: I'm in NorCal, so lead free isn't a requirement.

I like the Nosler 130 gr Ballistic Tip. It works very well and has been around a long time.

Lots of great .277" bullets out there. Hornady SST's and their Interbonds are good. Nosler's 130 grain Accubonds shot accurately for me. Nosler partitions are a great hunting bullet. Nosler Ballistic Tips are good bullets, but they do open up quickly.

The bonded bullets are a bit more expensive as are the Nosler Partitions. Both of these types of bullets are good for deeper penetration on bigger game.

For a non toxic (Condor area) bullet, I like the Barnes tipped TSX. I've got the 110 TTSX's up to 3200 FPS in my .270 Winchester and they are accurate. I tried the Hornady 130 GMX and could not get them to shoot accurately in my rifle. I've also tried the Barnes regular 130 TSX and had them shoot accurately. If I buy any more Barnes bullets though, I'll buy the Tipped TSX, I like them.

I am not a fan of the BT bullet for hogs. I would ude the Nosler 130gr PAR bullet for all hunting here.
If in a no-lead zone the TTSX(tipped) bullets are much better than the TSX(non-tipped) bullets from Barnes. I have not tried the Hornady GMX yet.

No need for "modern" technology...Nosler partition still gets the job done about as well as anything with some speed to it.

Thanks all for your input. I just ordered four boxes of Nosler 140gr Ballistic Tip.

Hopefully they are similar enough to the Hornady 140gr BTSP so I don't have to start all over in load development. I think it will depend on how different the bullet profile is and how it interacts with case capacity.

I really like the Sierra 130 and 150 grain GameKings for hunting performance. For best accuracy at the shooting range I go with the Sierra 130gr SMK, it flys real nice way, way downrange.
