Best ammo for 1/7 twist

So finally purchased my first ar, it's a BCM m4 Carbine Mod 2. I'm trying to look for the best ammo for this rifle, however I know that best ammo is subjective. For those who have had experience with BCM rifles or any other 1/7 twist rifles what ammo did your rifle like? I'm looking for good range/training and home defense ammunition.

Unless you're made of money, stick with 55gr for training. My 1/7 ar does fine with it.

My 1/7's also do fine with 55gr. However after seeing that chart again I think it would be fun to load up heavy bullets. I just looked on grafs and they have a ton of heavy bullets in stock.

So xm193 should do fine? Thinking of getting the xm855 as well. Which of the two would you guys prefer? The xm855 is 62gr over the 55gr xm193

You can shoot everything with out any problems, but you can over drive the50's & under so they come apart .

Cool chart, thanks for posting it. To OP, it is safe to assume right now the type of ammo you choose is irrelevant as long as it cycles fine. People get so hung up on miniscule details while ignoring the most important one - practice. Get whatever you can to practice and worry about min/maxing later if you are after extreme distance or precision shooting. In other words, don't blame the equipment; it will out shoot you 99% of the time.

i would avoid the xm855's if you can, most ranges don't allow steel core and you end up pretty limited where you can shoot them

The XM855's are perfectly fine but are steel core so you won't be able to shoot them at most ranges. Just stick with XM193's; they shoot just as good and are a little cheaper.
