H4895 and 175 SMK, anyone use this combo?

I recently did a load workup in .3 grain increments and found that 41.5 in mil brass is giving me the velocity and accuracy I am after, the problem is that whenever I search online it seems like others are using much lower loads which has me a bit worried.

Velocity is just under 2600fps from an M1A so not slow but not tearing up the charts either.

That's exactly the load I shoot paper with in my Remmy Milspec out to 500yd. I'm avg chrono a little higher but I'm not shooting a gas gun

We're not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few "crazies".
But the acts of a few American "crazies" is enough to judge all Americans who own guns.

Thanks, I figured I couldn't be the only one using this stuff.

How is it for temp stability? Like varget or more fluxuations?

I've shot with 4895, and while I like it, I found that I like 4064 better. But then I shot with longer barrels than the M1A.

Generally when I do a ladder test in 0.3 gr increments I usually start at the recommended minimum and go at least one load past the max as long as I don't see pressure signs. Doing so, I usually see at least 2 effective nodes.

I will load whichever suits my intent best. 1000 yds I'll go with the more powerful node, but if it's just normal range I'll go with the lower. Currently, I have a near max load for my 260 Remington for long range matches, but shoot another load that's 4.0 grs lower for practicing and just general plinking with friends.

And, Hodgdons rates 4895 for use in light loads. Check out the link:http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/H4895%20R...le%20Loads.pdf

theres more room in the case, the book is a guide.varget is what i use ,while not the same as h4895 i load 42gr with a 175 on top.velocity is 2600fps from my m14.
            Keep it simple!
