    Nosler Balistic tips

so everyone seems to stick with the A-Max/ MatchKing for 308 target, i was surfing the web and saw that nosler makes a ballistic Tip Hunting bullet in 168g with a BC of .490. thats VERY impressive. they are about .40c a bullet though. just wondering if anyone tried them for long range target shooting (800ish yards) and what kind of results they may have found. I want to check here before i blow some time/money on something that i will be disappointed with later.

figured maybe i could have a target load thats a hunting load as well.

I've found very little difference between Nosler and either Hornady or Sierra. So, I tend to go with whichever is cheaper or just available. Mostly, I end up buying Sierra HPBTs in 6.5mm and .308. (142gr, 155gr, 168gr and 175gr)

I didn't have good luck or results with Nosler Ballistic tips for accuracy close or long range. But their Custom Competition line is great. Shoots about the same groups and POI as SMKs but cost less.

My buddies dad swears by them for hunting with his 30-06, I actually shot some of the 180 gr today and was very impressed with the results. Ill end up testing some of them in a few months with my 308 to see how well they hold up at long distances.

I agree with the endorsement of Nosler Custom Competition bullets. Shoot well in my rifles.

Another choice is Berger Bullets: http://www.bergerbullets.com/products/target-bullets/ There are many choices in .308", enough to find a happy combination.
