I have an implied understanding of what C.O.L means, but what happens if you seat below that posted length?

I have some Lee 9mm Casts I made, and I am using Vihtavuori powder that says COL for 124gr leadcasts is 1.142". I know the max for 9mm is 1.169" but I see load data in my Hornady manual for COL's of similar bullets as 1.100". what happens if I seat my leds that deep? too much pressure for lead?

I mean I've seated some .223 a few hundredths lower than my manual recommends but haven't had any problems. what are the cons?

every fire arm will be different.with so many bullets on the market,make a selection and taylor it to your needs.when i load 223 ,i visually look at a cartridge in the the mag to see how close it is to the front of the mag.i dont measure length,i just want to know it fits in mag.for long range i will seat a bullet out so that it doesnt fit in the chamber ,then adjust seating stem until the bullet is just touching the rifling.

Depends on the bullet profile with 9mm. Seating deep may raise the pressure some, but nothing to be concerned over with a few thousandths difference. Start out with you powder on the low end and see how they shoot. Good shooting.
