Looking for .45ACP load using AL-5

The current reloading manuals do not have the old Alcan-5 powder listed for 200 grain LSWC.

Speer ninth edition (1974) page 412 lists a 200 grain JHP (not lead) load for AL5 as starting 7.9 grains for 889 FPS (5" 1911) and max at 8.5 grains for 965FPS.

So with lead, maybe start around 7.5 or 7.6 grains. Only loading I could find in short order, maybe more later. The book does list 200 LSWC, but does not offer AL5 as a powder.

    Hope this helps,
    Criss

Speer 8th edition (1970), page 387 lists these loads:

Same manual page 389 for .45 Auto Rim in a 6 1/2" barrel revolver lists these:

And the Speer 9th edition, page 412 lists these:

The Speer 8th edition page 41 lists AL5's burning rate from faster to slower - PB, Unique, SR7625, AL5, 500 HS, HS-5, AL7, and HS-6. Again I hope this is helpful to you.

P.S. I taken it the powder is in good shape, no acid smell, powdery rust or other signs of decomp going on etc. Be safe and use that stuff up!
