    Hornady Microjust

I ran across this today and was wondering if anyone has used it. Is it just snake oil or does it really work as they say it does? If it actually works, I was thinking it might be useful for reloading for my K31.

Graf & Sons, the reloading authority, has a wide selection of reloading supplies, shooting supplies, ammo and more.

Looks like it would work just fine and at that price I'd give it a try. Only reason you would really need micro adjustments is for making highly accurate rounds for a highly accurate rifle.

Yes it is a great addition to dies.. But are your dies for the K-31 Hornady. I do not think it will work with RCBS dies. The dies I am going to loan you are RCBS.

It works, but only on Hornady dies. It can be switched between dies for different calibers. I have a similar micrometer device from Redding on my Redding 260 Rem and 30-06 dies.

But, it really is a waste unless you are constantly changing bullet types or weights. By the way Grafs hasn't had those all year, I know because that's how long I've had one on backorder. I just talked to them this week and they said that they don't know how long it's going to be before they get any.

Midway USA is showing Oct. 5th as the expected date of the next shipment.

That's a bummer that it only works with Hornady dies. I was hoping it would be more universal. The reason it caught my attention was because several things I have read about reloading for accuracy with the K31 was consistency in both resizing and seating the bullets. I thought this would be helpful in making sure I was dialed in correctly each time for seating the bullets from batch to batch.

I have two micro-adjust stems for my Hornady dies. It works as intended and is easy to make precise adjustments, but they are not necessary.

I've seen similar ones for Redding and RCBS dies but they are lot more expensive. I'm not sure if those can be switched between their different seating dies or not. This was definitely at a really nice price point.

The Redding micrometer seaters come in several sizes (not sure how many) I have one for my 260Rem and one for my 30-06. They each cover several different cartridges. I think the 260 works on 243 and 7mm as well as others, the the 30-06 works with 308 and the Nato sizes, also 30-30.

I have micrometers on all of my rifle seating dies (Redding & Forster). Makes it so much easier to make fine adjustments rather than adjusting the whole die.

Here's the great thing about the Hornady micro stem system. I bought four Hornady seater dies to fit with the micro stem system (30/06, 223 Rem., 260 Rem. and 270 Win.) and three (I could only get three at the time) micro stems.

After using the seating stem for a while, I discovered the way the seating stem is engineered, the micro seating stem can be used on ANY CALIBER Hornady seating die. I move the micro stem between the 223 die and the 260 die.

What I found is the micro seating stem could be removed from one seating die and moved to another seating die. I found I could have bought four different caliber seating dies and would only have to buy ONE micro seating stem! DUH

All you do with each seating die is to keep notes to what bullets seat to what distance and what seating stem micrometer numbers are, that's it. You can remove the seating stem from die to die and when reseating it, it will will go back to it's zero.

I thought you needed a micro seater for each caliber, but when I started using it, I realized the micro stem was generic and can seat onto any caliber and one micro stem can be moved from one die to another.

It's on my midway back-order list, but my Hornady dies are already pretty darn consistent. I'm just hoping it will add a little more accuracy for my long range rounds. Really shouldn't be necessary for the K31.

What I like about the micro stem is to be able to go back months later using the notes from previous bullet seating settings and to adjust the seating stem to the numbers in the notes and go exactly back to those settings.

My normal bullet for my K31 is the 175 gr SMK HPBT, but when the ammo crunch hit and they were impossible to find, I had to switch to what I could find. It would have been nice to have the Microstem for quick settings between the 155gr HPBT, and the Berger 168gr VLD.

I used the Redding Micro Stem when I ran out of the Sierra 142gr HPBTs for my 260 Rem, and had to shot the 140, 129, and 123 grain bullets, in my long range matches.
