The 125 Remington match target loads worked pretty good today. I'm going to try a handload with a 125. You might be right as far as velocity goes, the 300 needs all it can get.

If that doesn't get me near 1/2 MOA, I'll have to start playing around. I have had good luck with the 125 grain burgers and IMR 4227 in my Contender so I'm thinking the 300 will be better and much faster.
Let us know when you get to half MOA with 300 blkout....

          ????

I only load 300 Blk with bullets 125 grain bullets and up to 220 grains.

My most accurate load is Sierra Pro-Hunter Bullets 30 Caliber (308 Diameter) 125 Grain Spitzer, over 17.8 grains Hodgdon H110, It shoots sub MOA out to 100 yards.

Are you belling the cases with cast boolits? If so how are you removing the bell... I have a taper crimp die that wont quite squeeze it down enough.

May I ask why not? If for 100 yard plinking drop isn't an issue. Accuracy is accuracy. Slow recoils less (not that recoil is an issue). Slow makes less noise. You don't need terminal ballistics, but arguably they'd be there the same as light and fast.

The only reason I can see to stick with light bullets is that tend to be cheaper, yes?

The only bullets I can find cheaper than this are half jackets and steel jackets from grafs. Not bad for a reliable source....

Just thinking out loud. But I'm truly curious. I shoot 357 max and 460 S&W and they were "supposed to be designed" for light fast bullets, but really excel shooting heavies slow (in the right gun). So it's interesting to hear the alternative viewpoint. Especially since in your case it seems like slow heavies are ideal.

I do bell the cases with the lee universal flare die, very slightly, luckily this boolit design is boat tailed, although some people prefer a flat base (more on that later) and lube just the TL grooves I use the lee seater die just enough to straighten that bell and do NOT use the lee FCD on this boolit. Once I figured out this regimen I have never leaded the bbl since my first foray. And these are just wheel weights and backstop lead, don't even water drop.
I like the smiley face in that one boolit
I can load this cheaper than my .223/5.56; that is until I run out of free lead or get stilly to powder coat some .224 boolits (once I find a good mold)

The lee one of course http://www.midwayusa.com/product/938...5-ogive-radius

Do a googley search for it, lots of info on it especially on castboolits and 300blktalk forums, also the original quarterboreforum. The story of this die is that it was a limited production and its development was w/ input from midwayusa.
