Best long range 300 Blackout load?

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know it is not intended to be a "long range" round but I've been hearing people are reaching out to 700-800y before dropping subsonic. That is plenty long for me. I'm going to be converting one of my AR's to 300blk. I'll be running super and sub sonic rounds and yes I will be running a suppressor at some point in the future. I want two loads, a haul-a55 long range zombie load and a slow and heavy load for a suppressor. I know i'm going to use 240gr for my sub loads but I'm not sure what to use for super sonic. The BC of the 110gr bullets are not very good and fall like a stone past 300yards. I hear the 150gr do much better but i'd rather load up cheap surplus 147gr if I can.

Anyone have a great recipe for getting out to 800+ yards with a 16" barrel?

I just want to ask WHY?

If it is because you want too, do the leg work, develop loads, test different bullets with the limitation of case capacity. Also take pictures, you tube it etc.. it will make you internet famous.

I have only been to a few long range events, NRA F-CLass, Service rifle or highpower, didn't see one person shooting 300blk at 600+ yards for points. There might be a reason for this.

Enjoy your Blackout AR on its strengths and merits, but i'd grab a off the rack bolt gun and shoot 600+ yards better than your 300blackout will ever do.

I have no desire to compete with it. This will be a SHTF only rifle. I like the idea of being able to shoot 2300+fps and 1000-fps 308 bullets in the same rifle with zero changes to the rifle. I have rifles that will shoot beyond a mile so I don't need a 800 yard rifle. I figure If I'm going to load up a fast round I might as well try and load up the best and get the most range out of it I can. I've spent many years developing my own loads but I need a starting point. If someone has already done a little of the leg work i'd love to hear about it and save me some time and money. By a bolt action 308 and you will have a gun that will shoot 3,000+ fps and 1,000 fps 308 bullets in the same rifle, with zero changes to the rifle.

I want to build off a semi-auto platform and use my many many 30rd AR mags. I have plenty of bolt actions, they are not an option. I'm dead set on the AR platform, ordered the barrel and gas block today, I need load data.

            PM sent.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

You're using an area weapon and firing for effect at anything past 500. Pick any load you want, because they're all going to be equally worthless. Like you said, .30 bullets that light are going to bleed energy quick and get ate up by anything more than a breeze, and those are your best options. If you're actually going to be punching more than paper, they have no energy left as an added bonus. It is like using a Porsche 911 as a dumptruck or Kate Upton as an instructor pilot. Sure, you could try to do it, but the only thing you'll discover is that when you use a tool for a job it was never intended, the results suck.

It can be a fun experiment, but don't expect anything better than being able to hit a man size target 25% or less at that distance. You're going to waste a lot of time, effort and energy in a fruitless adventure, but you can still go looking for the Northwest Passage anyway.

I'd let Kate Upton do anything she wants .

I'm getting a 300blk. Still looking for some one who has a fav load. Not interested in anything but load data at this point. Thanks.

Most 150gr 308 Win loads drop below subsonic at 800 yards.

I'm sorry, you're looking for something that doesn't exist.

                      Try a 155 @ just under 2150 fps.

my guess would be to run the 155g SMK palma. light and high BC .505 i think. good luck. i dont know powder for the 300blk

getting the 155g SMK Palma to 2100-2200fps keeps it supersonic at 800yards

My understanding is some bullets handle the transonic jump better than others. Wasn't the amax one of them, or the smk? I've heard one of those two can maintain man-size-target accuracy past transsonic (I assume this is your accuracy goal) as compared to, say, a berger bullet profile.

So I would likely start there.

OR, I would wonder about bullet drop with a super-high BC bullet that STARTS subsonic. Drops like a rock, but good BC and no transonic barrier to experiment with. Just need a scope with enough dope. some good 1-4's are pretty good about having ridiculous adjustment distances, and shouldn't impede your ability to shoot man sized steels at 500-700, I would imagine

                              Anyways, I would start there.
