CGSSA PRECISION reloading class - Los Angeles County

Aside from the beginning classes, is anyone interested in a precision rifle class? If so, it would be a little different. The only tools I have for precision reloading are reloading 50BMG. So, that would be the only cartridge we can do at this point. But, reloading is reloading. Hell, maybe we could do a class one day where everyone loads 5 rounds and then, on another day, meet at Angeles to run them through one of my rifles. I'd have to limit the class size to 4 or 5 and come up with a component cost. As far as just how precise I've loaded 50s goes, the last 5 shot group I shot at a 1000 yard match was just under 5". The 5th shot approximately doubled my group size. The last 5 rounds that my rifle has shot at a match (I wasn't there) is on record being 4 1/2" with the third shot being the flyer that doubled it's size. So, my precision reloading practices might not be good anal enough for some but, they seem to work. Anyway, this class would only be open to those club members who have taken or helped teach a basic course or can demonstrate to me that they are an experienced reloader. Preference would, of course, go to those who have already donated their time to helping any chapter teach a course or have already contributed in some way to any reloading club chapter.

    So, who's interested?

Again, if this happens, and I think it will, the student list will be at my discretion but, the order you post in this thread will have a secondary influence on my decision.

BTW, Ferrum has already donated brass so, thank him for getting me motivated to try this. Also, I'm willing to do this every few months for the time being.

CSA I am very interested in a class on precision reloading, I attended the workshop in VC and have loaded about 800 rounds of 223 and have recently started loading for precision using 77gr smk with varying success. I hope to take what I learn from this and put it towards loading precision 308, once I buy a rifle of course. Any nuggets of wisdom that you would be willing to share is greatly appreciated.

I think you will see a lot of interest in this. Shooterbill and I were talking about something similar at one of the workshops, and there seemed to be a lot of interest. Good luck!

Now I kind of wish I bought those Redding Type S Match dies....
Greg, can I bring my own 308 components? or are we just going to learn to load precision using your 50s?

damn it... now I gotta find a sweet load too

Can we load precision 25 ACP? I want to hit the steel pig at Angeles's 600 yard with my 1939 Beretta, 2" barrel! I need to find a red dot for it.

They perfected 308 precision reloading @ CAPRC.. Almost all of the top shooters are reloading their own ammo and they share their data too

I don't have neck turning stuff, flash hole deburring tools, primer pocket uniformers, etc. for any of the little, sub .50, stuff.

OK, let's set a date. How about August 17th at my place? I'll wait until Sunday July 28th to finalize the student list and just keep this thread active to get more potential students. The cost of just components and barrel life (figure a +$1000 barrel can fire around 2000 rounds before it's not match worthy) will be about $25. Other donations for the class will be minimal (range fees and probably just an open donation jar) since, everyone will already be a contributing member and actively helping the club grow.

I know you have some of those tools, I wanted to buy one that you don't use. $25, yeah, you know I'm in!

Well, that makes 5 students. Colt562, pucksnguns, IntoForever, SmokeWagon and Exodus343 it is. Since you're all already paid members who are also contributing time to one chapter or another, the cost of components will be $25 for 5 rounds and any donation you want to make to the club.
