Powder for the .45 ACP

Ok I'm picking up my first 45 in 20 years and would like to get your opinions on say what the top 5 best all around powders are for the .45

Hp38/W231, Unique...or anything between those.

Unfortunately, they're both about as scarce as hens teeth at ths time.

Bullseye is favored by many, as is Unique. In my experience, Bullseye is very dirty and Unique, being a flake powder, is hard to measure consistently.

I've had the best performance from Winchester 231. I load a 230 grain bullet with a tight taper crimp. Accuracy is very good if I do my part.

Bullseye, Unique, 231, Blue Dot & WST all work well.

I used WST, WSF and SR7625 since 231, unique and the rest are hard to find.

Win231 and I am still using up a bunch of Hi-Skor 700X I got in the 1970's for shotshell reloading.

Win231/HP38 and WST are both excellent powders for .45acp

231 is a good all around powder but for just 45 I really like WST. As an added bonus WST is a lot easier to find right now because people snap up 231 sice it is used in so many different calibers
