    Boxer Primed???

Hey guys. Still new to reloading. Been seeing a lot of ammo stating " boxer primed". What is boxer primed?

Boxer primers are the current primers in use today. The other type is Berdan primers which are usually found in older Surplus Ammo. They are corrosive and the cases are almost impossible to reload due to the cases having two
      off center flasholes.

Brass w/ Boxer primer holes are your friends! No extra case prepping needed!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Generally, American ammo uses boxer. We unfortunately bought some Australian surplus .308 that is Berdan primed.

Difference is that the hammer is part of the primer for Boxer, and part of the casing for Berdan. (as well as the central vs 2 off center flash holes.)
