    Giraud Power Trimmer

Does anyone know of one for sale in .223? I looked on Google and could not find a used one.

    Thanks

They have a 12 weeks back order right now (I think it's longer now)
Those trimmers are in high demand, my friend ordered one months ago, still waiting

Yeah, I noticed the wait. That's why I was hoping there was a used one for sale floating around out there.

It still is a 12 week wait, unfortunately.

I like and prefer the Giraud, but he wait time IS very long right now...
For .223 cases the Dillon press mounted machine would work and the wait may not be as long...

I have a 1050 with he RT1200 for .223. The RT1200 is not what I had hoped. It trims fast, but you lose the speed having to still chamfer and de-burr. Monday I will order the Giraud, and sell my RT1200 when I get it.

You don't need to chamfer or debur using boat tail bullets.... They just slide right in!

When I got into competitive High Power with the Service Rifle, the Giraud was arguably the most important tool I ever bought. The volume of rounds I was putting down range in practice and matches needed to be replenished quickly and the Giraud definitely contributed to my success (less time reloading, more ammo, more time to practice).

Ook so if time is money for you then the giraud is not the way to go....

For one you have to touch EVERY piece of brass.

                  2. It was talking that guy about 6 seconds per case( the dillon takes about 2 seconds per case while resizing/depriming, and swaging at the same time)

                  3. You still have to resize before, so now your adding another step. Another step=more time.

I don't see the giraud being a cost effective piece of equipment for some one who does a lot of shooting

It would take almost 2 hours to just trim 1000 pieces with the giraud

The dillon in the right hands would be 30 min...

Tiller- when I trim the brass, obviously it goes very fast. But on some casings there is brass shavings that the trimmer does not remove, looks like little pig tails on the casing.

So I just pull them off by hand and they are done?

I might end up calling you, if that is ok.

                      Thats fine...

Those little shaving will come off when you tumble them... And how fast are you going when processing? Some times if you rush it it will get those...

About 98% of the time those little edges and pigtails will come off when tumbling

I had a Giraud on order. It was supposed to ship a few weeks ago. I called and cancelled and decided to go with the RT1200 instead. I get the same little pieces of brass still left on my cases but they all come off when I wet tumble. I don't chamfer or debur and I also dint have any boat tail bullets. I use the 55gr vmax and they seem to go in without any problems. I think the giraud does a better job but is a lot more work and touching of the brass.
