Ok, so I'm setting up a press in a second location. I can borrow dies from one for the other, but eventually would like to have access to everything in both places.
That said, I've been shopping here and ebay for deals on dies. I found some RCBS .357 Mag dies on ebay for $10 and jumped at it... come to find out that RCBS makes TWO versions of their "3 Die Set". One does the size and decap in one step, the other does the decap on the expand step.
I'm running a Dillon 550B and need to size and decap on the first step (since the expand / bell step happens at powder drop). Of course, you guessed it, the dies I got were the wrong kind.
I take a look at the dies a little closer and note threads inside the top of the sizing die. Out comes the decap pin assembly from the expander die, but it's too large to thread into the sizer.
"Hmmm.... (I think) I guess I'll finally try to sell something on ebay."
Not quite ready to pack it in, I call RCBS and explain my situation. The woman who answers goes over much of what I'd already noted about two types of dies and asks for my address. Apparently they DO make a decaping pin assembly for my sizing die and she is going to mail me one... Free. Gratis. No charge.
This was only yesterday, so I haven't gotten the part yet, but I must say I'm a big fan of great service. We'll see if it shows up and how the dies work for me.
I know Redding has more than once impressed me with great service (and is / was the only company I planned to buy new dies from). Maybe they'll have some competition for my money now.
