    30-06 Question

    Hey guys...

I don't load precision rifle, just .223 thru the AR platform... I have a set of Wells Dies that are in an RCBS box labeled 30-06 Springfield Government.. I came across these as well as a ton of brass.. The brass I sold off but there were 3 different lots (match, government and looked like some typical commercial) type stuff...

Whats the difference? I might have a 30-06 bolt gun coming to me and am curious if I need to get different dies, need to get specific brass ect...

Should be fine. Might be a small base die but likely not. .30-06 seems to be fairly brass picky, you can run it all but the variances across manufacturers would lend itself to using one headstamp for your reloading. Winchester is the best for the price, I hear lapua isn't much better and a lot more expensive.

German Salazar has written a bunch about reloading for the .30-06 and bolt rifles. Google him.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?

I use Winchester brass for my .30-06 bolt gun. It is cheap and a lot of people say it will stand up for a few reloads.

Just pick a brand and stick with it.

Your dies should be adequate --
Wells dies were a 1960's equivalent to Lee dies --
All of my 06's have digested any ammo fed them --
