    (UPDATE)Finally reloaded some ammo.

Well after many months of research and buying equipment I loaded some rounds. I have been waiting on some dies for my .300 weatherby, and they finally came in. Good thing as I am going on a hunting trip next week.

I am a little nervous, but I have followed everything to a T. I pretty much bought all redding equipment. At least press, and dies. The comp seating die was awesome. I dont have any other brand to compare it to, but I cant imagine anything being easier to adjust so quickly.

Well I am pretty excited to go shoot tomorrow, and find out what recipe I will use next week. Wish me luck, and thank you all for the info you have put out on this site. I dont post much, but all I do is search, and read. I will post tomorrow, especially if I have some questions

    Do post the range report.

Went to the range yesterday, and I cant believe how exciting it is to shoot your own ammo. evreything went better than could be expected. I was unable to take pics, because I forgot my camera. I will be going out again in the next couple of days, so Ill get them then.

Best group was .572" , worst group was 1.2" All in all I am very happy.I think i can get it a little better with a trigger job, but it is a .300 weatherby for hunting. it is also so nice not to be paying $3.00 a round. It looks like I will be able to get it down to about $1.00 or so.

Like i said i will post some pics soon, and thanks for all of your knowledge and info.

Congrats. I just started reloading too. Tested some loads at the local indoor range and then loaded up about 200 for last Sunday's SSA match. Don't know if it was my new awesome ammo, the new trigger job done on my pistol or if I'm just that good, but I won first place in my class.

Reloading is addictive. Now that there's daylight when I get home, I do an hour or so of reloading on my single stage. Finished off 150 rounds last night. Whee!!!

hurry up and set up the other half already, you've been saying that's only half for years.

Not enough room in this shop until I build more counters.
Some of the others are setup in another shop I don't use anymore.

Hey, not bad! I'm sure you could play with the rifle / ammo to get it better, but I would think that should do well for hunting (unless you bring a bench rest into the woods with you )

Do you have a chronograph to measure velocity on? My experiences have put my loads close to what the books suggest, but it's always good to confirm (especially if you expect to take longer shots and need to know drop).

it is also so nice not to be paying $3.00 a round. It looks like I will be able to get it down to about $1.00 or so.
                      +1

I hear you there. If it wasn't for reloading, I would shoot my .300 Wby to zero it and on the rare occasions I actually get out hunting. I just about choked when I paid nearly $50 for my first box of ammo to feed that gun - and that was years ago.

I don't know what bullet's you're using, but I figure my loads to be about $.50/ea - provided I don't have to buy new brass.

Since you're not using them, can I have one? I'll still let you claim it as part of the other 1/2
