Need help 9mm 115gr flat point plated bullets

I have read a bunch of different stuff over the past hour. so am I supposed to use load data in powder the same as lead round nose? seat the flat point at the same OAL? I heard u are supposed to use the load data as lead bullets starting low or jacketed bullets mid loads.... someone help plz.

I would start using minimum powder charge weights for same weight lead bullet and to go maximum OAL 1.170". Lead takes less powder to push, and maximum OAL has the least pressure. It would help to know what brand bullet and powder you are using. Someone probably allready has a good load for it.

Gun and barrel length too. I started using plated boolits and have about a 1000 rnds done on 6 different powders and 2 calibers. I use them for 9mm and 40 s&w. I get my shooting buddies opinions too so they have been used on 6 different guns.

Berry's 115g 9mm copper plated bullets. shooting out of glock19. up to and including 1.125 too long to feed. plz help I have 200 more...

I loaded my first 9mm rounds with Berry's flat nose 124. There was some varying information as to recipe with Alliant suggesting much more powder than the Lyman manual. I went with the Lyman as I wanted to start on the low end and work my way up. So, I loaded 10 rounds each in .2gr increments starting at 4.1gr all with an OAL of 1.10. My goal was not max load, but a balance between accuracy and ensuring reliability since I was using these for plinking and matches. I ended up loading the rest at 5.1 to ensure cycling and at 5.1 it also grouped better.

In short, start conservative and load a few and work up watching for pressure signs, etc.

took some of the rounds i made with these bullets to the range to experiment. i loaded 1.145 oal- 1.125 oal with 4.8-5.2g hodgdon longshot. all the rounds had trouble feeding and ejecting. on hodgdons website the only similar round was some FMJ GD holowpoints. suggested oal of 1.10 and 5.0-6.0g of longshot powder. guess ill just try them at the recommended length as the dummy round semms to feed. mus have not been enough pressure to cycle the slide is obviously what happened.

I'm not a reloading expert so please verify, but if you still have some of those rounds loaded you can put them back through the seating die to set them to 1.1. I would only play with one variable at a time. By shortening the oal, pressure will increase.

This is my receipe for 9mm using berry's plated 115 gr and longshot
5.8 gr. longshot
9mm plated berry's 115 gr. boolit
1.10 oal.
1150fps+
I didn't like longshot and berry's 115 gr. 9mm. I shared the load with 3 others and they said the same thing, snappy recoil, worse than store bought blazer ammo. I only use longshot in my .40s&w heavy xtp loads.
Consider a faster buring powder that uses 1.10 oal. using midlevel loading data for jacketed 115 gr. 9mm
