I am loading .357 magnum and my instructions that came with my Lee die set said to use small primers, not small magnum primers. Do I need magnum primers, or just plain old spp's? Thx

If you are using a ball powder(like H-110 or Win296) then best to use a mag primer. If using other types of powder either will work. Also I have found that there is little need to worry about reducing your load when using mag primers unless you are overbook to start with. Same with different brands of primers.
Reloader mag did a test and got better accuracy using mag primers on all loads in the 357mag and several other pistol loads.
I just buy mag primers for all mine unless I get a super deal on regular ones.
I am near you and have been reloading for many years with no troubles if you need help.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
