    .400 vs. .401 bullets

    Got my components to reload 40 s&w. all I need are bullets. What diameter bullets do I need .400 or .401? Thank a lot.

    Jacketed = .400. Plated or Cast = .401

      I was wondering the same thing. One manual says .400 and another says .401.

          The diameter is more critical with lead bullets to prevent gas cutting and leading your barrel. Jacketed you can relax a bit on size and shoot as they come.

            I could have sworn I've seen it somewhere. I think I have it mixed up when purchasing projectiles. Sorry about that.
