If you're close to San Jose, I'll sell you a pound of H414 at whatever I paid for it 6 months ago (pre-panic, I think like $24). That's the powder you'll want to use

so i got everything i need the last couple days. i had to go with whats in stock, but i think i have it pretty well covered (at least for my first 100 or so rounds).
tell me what you think. i went to sportsmans warehouse thurs evening. they had probably 6 or 7 different rifle powders to choose from. i ended up getting a pound of imr 4865. the next best option was accurate 2520 or something and i figured the imr would be a little better. i got 100 speer 85 grain soft point boat tail bullets. i couldnt find any fmj or ballistic tips in the 85 grain range. so these will do. i shoot moa with cheapo federal soft points and these look way nicer. i ended up getting some winchester primers from big 5 for a lost of money almost $50 bucks, but at least they had them. and i received my lee reloading kit, so i have everything i need to get started. now i just need a book which i will get sometime soon. and to do a little more studying up loads, oal etc and il be good to go. what do you guys think about those components?

H4350 is very popular for the .243 win

Alfred1222 your quote made me bust out laughing. Thanks!

I shoot a 243 and have tried most of the powders. Mine likes IMR 4064 for lighter bullets and R15, R19, H4831SC & H4350 for the heavy bullets up to 105 gr. Lots of good information on line but nothing beats good reloading books. I have 5 and use them all.

                    Best of luck

so im open to any suggestions. unfortunately my powder, bullet, primer selection is going to be based off what i can actually get. thats why i thought it would be good to know the top 3 or 4 powders that will work with that setup, that way when i call around to stores and they say oh we got one pound of this left. il know right off if it will work or not.
Buy the $8 caliber specific loadbook.
It has the data from 10+ different manuals for a single cartridge.
You still need a regular reloading manual too though just for the procedural information in it.
You really should read a reloading manual BEFORE you start buying components...
