    10mm test numbers

I pulled these from youtube channel ammo test.

6" lone wolf barrel glock 20

    All hard cast loads

Underwood ammo 220gr. Avg fps 1267, ave fpe 784 ft lbs.

Buffalo bore 220gr. 1231fps, avg fpe 740 ft lbs.

Double tap 200gr WFNGC. 1263FPS, AVG FPE 708

    Doubletap 230gr ave 1161fps 688 fpe.

I've heard that a good handloader can drive that Double Tap 200gr WFNGC to 1330-1350. That would be 809 fpe!

The underwood 220 is a beast. Nearly 280 power factor!

Thanks for the info. I just bought a 10mm (RIA 1911) a few weeks ago and I have been less than thrilled about the ammo I could find.

I want to get some of these more powerful loads and give them a try. A few places here carry Buffalo Bore but I haven't seen it in stock recently.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

If you want to push the heavier bullets up there, it really helps to have a longer barrel (like the 6" aftermarket hunting barrels) as it takes slower powders which come into their own with the longer barrel.

On shooting the RIA, if that is a normal 1911 style barrel (i.e. not ramped), be careful as the fully unsupported chamber will put stress on your brass. If you go to Underwood Ammo, they have a specific load to be used in Delta Elite (unsupported 1911 style barrel). Just a heads up.

In self defense ammo from underwood I prefer the delta elite 180gr gold dot load as the regular one drives the damn bullet to oblivion in ballistic gel with 4 layers denim. Somebody needs to make a stout 200gr bullet but the nosler 200 is the best we will likely get. I'd like to see more testing of the 140 and 155 barnes tac-xp in 10mm loadings.

An hst or ranger t 180gr at 1250fps would be badddddd ***.

I ran some 180gr XTP's today at 1300-1350 fps out of a stock G20 barrel. Brass looked fine, just a slight Glock belly, primers were kind of flat though. I have found the XTP to hold up pretty well under duress, pretty stout bullet.

Couldn't get above 1285 fps out of the G29. Just not enough barrel to get those heavy slugs moving.
