    Cheddite Primers Okay?

Trying to build up some shotgun reloading supplies. Has anyone had success with the Cheddite primers?

They have always gone bang for me.

Lotta folks use 'em. IIRC they have issues with Browning O/U firing pins.

From my experience, they are a bit hotter than Winchester 209 primers. Be careful if you are using high pressure recipes.

If your shotgun is piercing the primers, stop using them. I've read/heard of them piercing just about every brand of shotguns. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what guns they pierce.

They happen to pierce in my cynergy, but not in any of my other brownings or shotguns.

I shoot a Ruger Red Label SC, perhaps I will try a box or two.

                Thanks.

Over on shotgunworld.com there seems to be a few people that have experienced pierced primers. I think it really depends on the shotgun you are using. I would buy 1000 and test them out before you put in a big order.

I switched over to cheddites last year and do not experience these pierced primer issues.

If you plan on using Win209 primer data, you'll want to reduce the powder charge by .5 gn, they are a bit hotter.

I ordered two boxes. I will load up the first batch and if I do experience any issues, I will just sell them. Shotgun primers are still hard to find so I shouldn't have any trouble selling them if I need to.

Been using them for several years with no problems in 3 different shotguns - 2 are old SXS.
