Wanted: Barnes Reloading Data for 300 Win Mag

    Howdy All,

I'm looking for reloading data for Barnes 168gr TTSX (tipped; not TSX) using H4350 in a 300 Win Mag round.

The Barnes website does not have data for the 168gr TTSX, yet alone with H4350.

Thank you in advance for your help!

My Barnes manual (4th Ed) does not have the data for any 168-grain TTSX. Nor do they list H4350 as a powder for 300 WIN MAG.

    I would e-mail them.

The way I approach developing loads for the TSX and TTSX is to use the recommended start load for a similar lead core jacketed (say SMK or AMAX) and work up like I would anyway (.5gr increments), stop when primers start flattening or bolt lift starts getting sticky. What I am looking for is a node in the higher end range velocity wise. As these are always hunting loads, I will usually be willing to go past a perfect node to gain some velocity on the high end.

I have found with my 308 and 30-06 loads that going lighter with the Barnes than I might with a lead core jacketed bullet seems to work better (thanks to Divernhunter for that tip). For instance, I get better results with 150gr TTSX than a 168gr and I have a couple boxes of 130gr I am going to work up next for my 308.

Anyway, wish I could be more helpful with specific loads, just the way I approach the problem.

      Good luck, have fun.

The Barnes 4th edition lists the identical loads for the:
        165 Grain TSX BT
        165 grain MRX BT
        165 grain BND SPIT
        and the,
        168 grain TSX BT

The loads listed there for these bullets should be a safe place to start with the 168 TTSX.

With H4350 start at 62 grains and work your way up to the max load of 68.5 grains.
