#55 powder measure.

So I recently bought the Lyman Crusher 2 press kit that came with the #55 powder measure. My question is can you just mount the powder measure to the press itself like you can on the T-Mag 2 turret press? In the kit description it doesnt say anything about it and it doesnt come with a measure stand or trickler. Anyone have any experience with this???

If your kit comes with a powder die it shouldn't be a problem. I have two #55 Lyman's but they are set up one for black powder and the other when I use my single stage press.

Rcbs has a small plate that fits under your bullet seating die so your measurer sits off to one side. You can drop powder & go right to your bullet seating step.

I just looked and your press is a single stage, if the measure doesn't come with a powder stand your going to need one, I'd set up a separate area for adding powder to the cases, use one of the plastic or wood case holder trays 50 or so cases add powder then eyeball them all to make sure you didn't miss a case or double charge a case.

Well the powder measure does come with a 7/8-14 adapter, so cant you just thread it onto the press when its time to charge??

You could one case at a time, but have fifty cases sized and primed in a loading block and by the time you do five in the press you could do fifty in a block plus the eyeball check and be seating bullets before you could have fifty cases charged one at a time. To me just easier to do.

I have a Lyman #55 powder measure and it came with an adapter that lets me mount it into the Orange Crusher press. I bought my measure back in 1997, so things might have changed with the accessories that come with the powder measure now. Having said that, I have never mounted my powder measure on the press, only clamped onto a 3/4" thick plywood shelf mounted above my work bench. I would charge a case, then immediately seat a bullet in the press. This eliminated the possibility of accidentally loading a cartridge with no powder or double charge, and there was no risk of spilling powder from having a reloading block with 50 cases tip over.

Ill have to look into it, maybe I can rig up a simply jig out of wood so I dont have to spend another 30 bucks on an actual stand. Thanks for all the info guys!

I made a Z bracket out of 1x4 bottom foot clamps to bench & measure clamps to top foot, I made another one that is two feet tall for when I load black powder in my 45-70 I use a drop tube then.
