    Bay Area Components

I stopped by Reed's in Santa Clara and they had a few jugs of Varget 49.99/LB and CCI 550 SMPP for 49.99/1000. I went to Annie's in Fremont and they had some W231 35.00/LB.

Please post any components you see around when doing your shopping.

    Varget 49.99/LB really ...

That little ammo shack place in san jose had a powder for $30/pd a few months ago:

When Imbert and Smithers had Varget it was $40/lb. It's all gone by now I believe

Just saying if you buy Varget for $50 thats .20 cents per round just for powder. I use Varget works great just rough paying that. Serch around online for a 8lbs Jug.

great that they have it. Sometimes you just need a pound, and need it NOW. If they were charging $20 a pound one person would come in and buy it all in one shot.

Sucks for sure, but sometimes you have folks like me that shoot something like 100 rounds of 357max a year or less. And I have to compete with the 223 guys for small rifle primers? I'm happy to pay $5 or $6 after tax for 100 small rifle primers. I used to be able to buy them at the drop of a hat from any retailer in the bay area. Those days are over.

Just ask for some lube at the counter when you check out, and be glad you could get it at all. It sure would suck to have to duck out of a hunting trip cause you needed some H4350 for that short-notice trip and couldn't find a pound anywhere at any price.

Well needing something NOW is a relative term... I haven't over paid for a single component, and recently, like 2 weeks ago, I decided to start loading match grade 308. I already got the bullets for pre-panic prices last week, and brass I picked and sorted from my local ranges. As for powder, I have 8 pounds of H414 coming from Natchez in 5 days. I paid $17 or so per pound. Primers, I found wolf LRMP from powder valley, $30/1000, and they already shipped. I don't plan to load more than 3000 rounds of .308 this year, but ill have plenty of components should i decide to load just regular .308 for my semi-auto's

Good on ya. $100 for an 8 lb jug (before hazmat) is a great price for powder. It would be silly to compare pricing without also including tax, shipping, hazmat, and the wait time.

A very good point. Hazmat is fixed, but shipping cost me $24, and no tax. That takes it to $187 shipped to my door. That's a bit more than $23 a pound, which isn't bad, all things considered
