RCBS hand priming tool vs RCBS Standard priming tool?

Hi Guys,

I've only been reloading a short time (9mm and 30-30) and have been using the RCBS hand priming tool. It works ok. But I recently obtained an RCBS standard Priming tool (#09512), the bench mount kind. For those that have used both, which one did you prefer and why?

The obvious answer is for me to use both and decide. The only reason I haven't done that is the Standard priming tool is in the original box, the plastic bag with the primer rods is still sealed and I'd prefer to keep it that way until I decide whether to list it or keep it because it could effect the value.

Any input would be appreciated!

When I am using a single stage press, I much prefer hand priming.

I prefer to hand prime. I don't have any specific reasons but it's my preference.

While most of my equipment is RCBS I favor the hand held Lee Auto Prime.

I was liking the Lee Hand Primer, until I tried it with .300WSM, I couldn't make it fit that fat stubby case. Maybe they make a Magnum Primer, or a shotshell primer?

Hand prime for me. You'll know something is different this way. It will take one pop in your face and you'll know what not to do again. It's all about the feel of the primer getting set. Plus I'll watch my Family Guy on the sofa while priming.

I used the RCBS auto primer feeder tubes on my single stage press for years. Finally switched the to RCBS hand priming tool and I wouldn't go back. Much easier, better feel, more consistent results.

RCBS makes two models; 1 which uses the standard shell holder and the other which has a universal shell holder; I own the former. Should have bought it years ago.

Well, the majority opinion seems to be the hand primer works easiest/best. I'll probably stick with that. Thanks for the input guys!

Yeah, the RCBS hand primer. Liked it so much I bought two.
