I have found even with carbide dies I still have to lube my brass. Using Lee carbide dies led to a ridge being formed at the base of the case that prevented chambering in both an M1 Carbine and Ruger Blackhawk, therefore I have returned to using a standard RCBS sizing die with lube with great results, even salvaging brass that had formed a ridge. If you are loading for a Ruger Blackhawk take a look at lead bullets, they shoot great! For lead bullets I recommend Unique and 2400, while it is hard to beat H110 for 100gr FMJ bullets.

If you buy commercial bullets make sure they are.308 in diameter. I have had bullets that are slightly smaller that moved in the case after they were loaded.

30 cal 110g soft nose bullets for the M1 Carbine.

H110 is the way to go, I believe it's around 14.5 g and carbines are sensitive so you might have to do a little "tuning".

The big thing about carbine is trimming the case. I used a Reddington hand lathe and got pretty fast at it except I had 1000 once fired cases to trim.

If you are looking for .30 carbine brass and bullets, you may want to consider the folks at Mastercast. Their website is at http://mastercast.net/ftp.mastercast...omponents.html .

Last month, I was able to get pulled bullets and unfired LC brass.

As others have mentioned, H110 with 110g FMJ works great!

The hardest part regarding reloading for 30 carbine is how to reliably capture the brass after ejecting out of my M1 Carbine.

              I use 2400 , 13 grains behind a 110 jacketed come out about 1900 fps

Another is 4227 , 13.5 grains behind same slug same velocity.

And if you don't like chasing brass , do the unthinkable , modify your M1 to a bolt , you use a shorter piston kits can be found. I have one modified this way from Pennsylvania where you can't use a semi auto for hunting.( Could this be a way to keep em after SB374 passes?)

Like said trim that stuff keep it in spec. It`s fun to load if you have a progressive but not so fun if you have single stage.

Yeah, just a single stage reloader here. No worries. Thx for the tips!

Update: all brass measured, with about 30% needing a trim. I FL sized without lube with little problem, and sample pieces chamber in my M1 with no problem, so no apparent bulging.

I'll probably be using 1680, as I have a nice stash of it.
