    MidwayUSA Product Arrival Notification

Is it just me or is this service just useless? I'm on my computer and saw the notification email and immediately clicked the link just to see a message that it's sold out. I don't think more than ten seconds went by between getting the email and clicking on the link. I think this happened to me about three times this month. Do they not send the email until the product is out of stock?

This was for Remington SPP btw

    also happened with
    Hornady .224 projectiles
    Remington SRP

I read somewhere recently that the emails are sent out in batches. I've received 2 before, while at my computer. Click 1st and still available. 2nd was out. I opened both windows within seconds of each other.

when they send out a notification email,it doesn't get sent to everyone at the same moment. They send a batch of emails and it gets queued up in the mail server and then sent out as fast as the server can process them. so, people that get the email early in the queue might buy out everything before it gets to the end of the queue.

I just got this after I tried to order what was in stock not more than a minute before I submitted my order.

        Attention

Remington Small Rifle Primers #6-1/2 Case of 5000 (5 Boxes of 1000) status changed to Out of Stock, No Backorder. Since you can't order it today, it has been removed from your cart.

It is a hit or a miss. I was able to get some Hornady projectiles when I got the notification.

Oh rats somebody stole your stuff because they were quicker...

I love the notifications I get at 4AM. East Coast guys get the jump on me.

look it up. I did a rant on Midway a month or so ago. Same issue except they took my order and payment then sent me an email days later saying it was not in stock. Was reimbursed

I know there is a panic albeit, it may be slowing, none the less, it is frustrating to find the item OOS like you did.

Not sure if there is anything they can do.

I said I fired them but lied. Have ordered with them since and will again as they generally do a good job

BTW- Not sure what projectiles you guys got but I am on a notification with them for 224 Hornady 55gr FMJBT. If it was those, I never got the email

the product arrival notification does leave something to be desired. however, lets not thorw the baby out with the bathwater- Midway does do a very good job overall, IMHO.

Not just midway, product notifications as a whole are notoriously bad.

Look at the Google debacle on the Nexus 4 launch. If Google can't get it right, can't really fault the smaller guys.

gunbot has been pretty accurate in tracking in stock items

Its a placebo effect, but I still sign up and subscribe everywhere possible. I get a headache trying to remember where i've been, since they all don't notify you of a subscription or prior sub.

Riflegear is on it with notifications. In Feb at 0400, I got an email saying a Bushmaster was in stock. I hit it immediately. It was in stock. I wasn't buying so kept refreshing. It lasted 1 minute a 10 or so seconds.

Looks as if I I could of had it.

Like I wrote in another thread be sure to check back on the item. I've also clicked on email links right upon receipt to find the item out of stock and then an hour later its back in stock.

Thanks for the explanation guys. I will continue to use them but its just a bit frustrating sometimes.

Ha. I remember the Nexus 4. They told everyone on the phone it will go on sale on the website at 9AM and they started selling at 8:30. I got on my computer at 8:45 and they were all gone. I eventually got mines a few weeks later but I spent half the day at work pushing the add to cart button. Now I want a HTC One
