Guys and gals,
I just recently picked up a couple hundred blems of the 225s, since I wanted to try them anyway sooner or later, and they were available right now. I checked my supplies and the slowest powder I have for my .44s is Blue Dot. I've checked the Alliant website, the Hornady website and loaddata.com. None of them use BD as a propellant. The one place I need to look is the most recent Hornady manual, but I cringe at spending umpty-five dollars for a few seconds worth of work. So I am asking whoever is out there with a current Hornady reloading manual, "Is there a 225 FTX load using Blue Dot as a propellant? And if not, do they say (or imply) why not?"
I could interpolate data, and I am not below doing that despite the risks, but I'd prefer to work with established information.
I realize that the 225 FTX is a different animal, requiring either special trimming lengths or adjusted powder loads from other .225s due to shape and hardness of the jacket, and that the nose may deform slightly when I load it in my run-of-the-mill RCBS dies.
