    Hornady 45 XTP

Need some help Has anyone loaded Hornady 45 XTP 185gr bullets with WSF or WST? Those are the only 2 powders I currently have left. My Hornady book and Sierra doesn't mention those loads. Anybody want to share their data so I can get a baseline to compare?

I'm also curious about the Nosler 155gr JHP in the same caliber and powder too.

I'm looking around some more, but I have scribled in my notebook some .45 ACP rounds I did with WSF. It was loaded with 7.6g, with Winchester primers, 185g XTP to a OAL of 1.255. Clocked out at 852FPS +/- 22 FPS.

WARNING!!! This is my chicken scratch... let me see if I can find it in print.

Thanks Ferrum. 7.6g sounds like it fills the case quite a bit.

Hodgdon's site show 185 JSWC from 6.8-7.5 of WSF and 4.0-4.9 of WST.

Maybe start 10% below that and work up.

Both WST and WSF are listed for 185gr bullets...

Let us know how it goes, and which powder works better for you.... I got a 1lb of each I havent opened yet.

Thanks! I really need to get my own chrono. Will the jwsc load data work with jhp?

Yes, both jacketed. The XTP's can be kind of finicky OAL wise as they have a sharp shoulder break, so depending on your throat, you will have to seat them down a little.

Just use "start" loads at first and seat them until they will chamber reliably in your gun. Then work up.

Thanks Bill. I'll give that a go this weekend and see how it chambers.
