So what IS powder going for these days?

I hadn't actually bought any powder since I stumbled onto a bunch in Kansas a few years ago at $17/lb. You don't wanna KNOW how cheap the Wolf primers were.

So came across an 8# keg of Green Dot last week. Pretty sure I overpaid but it was there, no shipping or hazmat, no backorder BS, it's my favorite powder for pistols and I supported a pretty decent LGS. Paid my $$$ & walked out.

Anybody actually FOUND powder at a brick & mortar lately? I'm not a bigtime bulk buyer so online isn't really the way I go.

Just received an order from PV today.

    8lbs Varget = $152.
    8lbs BLC(2) = $137

Plus $27 Hazmat and $14 Ship and $1 Ins.

On the local side, I bought 1K of CCI BR2 from a LGS $64. + ST.

I pretty much only buy online these days.

My last online order averaged about $20 per pound across the order which included shipping and hazmat. That was for a mix of stick and ball for rifle and pistol powders.

I bought from Turners when they had stuff in stock early this year for about $28 per lb for BLC(2)

Bill, what loads do you use BLC(2) for?

Stage Stop shop in Atwater has powder, but they are charging $40/lb.

OK. So $27/lb OTD wasn't too awfully bad. I have a 1# bottle of 231 with a $35 price tag on it from the Great Drought of '08-'09.

My last order online was 17lbs. total including shipping and hazmat fee was $275. Signed for it last week, maybe 2 weeks ago.
That's about $16 per lbs delivered to my door. I can't beat that at the local stores, even if they have it instock.

I would say the average is around 25 per pound.

If it is in stock, I usually see between $25 to $35 a pound. Unless you buy some powder serious bulk, not worth buying a small amount, online, and pay the hazmat fee on it. That is a killer for the small orders.

I have been finding powder from $20 (Unique and Bullseye) to $24 (Varget, 748) per pound at the local gun stores. Recently I ordered 8# of CFE-223 for $137 with works out to $17 a pound. Primers (all sizes) I have been finding at $35 per 1000. In year past I did not stock much on the shelf but starting in 2008 CHANGE finally came.

                              Cheers,
