RCBS reloading kit advice requested

I am asking for advice and opinions on these kits, as far as which is a better value, or preferable. I also welcome advice on other manufacturers kits.

I would go with the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme kit for $319 at Midway and also get from Midway the RCBS AR small base dies for $39.99 which are in stock. You might need the case holder and you are ready to rock and roll. The Natchez deal seems to be way to expensive.

Agreed, in my findings it seems the Natchez kits is pretty expensive. From what I've seen there are better prices at there and kit layouts for that matter.

Grafs has that in stock as well, shipping will only be 5 bucks. Shipping from midway or natchez might be more expensive, just a thought

Keeping in mind that 223 dies have been hard to find. If all the dies are useful to you. Then the tactical kit may be the way to go.

The kit Natchez is offering comes with a new press RCBS just introduced (Reloader Special 5). I have not seen it in person, but from pictures, the linkage lookes a little lighter than the RC Supreme press. May or may not be a big deal.

As Big Bronco points out, if you have a need for the dies, getting them all in one shipment is a bonus nowadays. The parts that are additional in the Natchez kit retail out to about what they will cost separately if you went with the Midway kit and then bought everything else separately (in one shipment), but again, that is if you can find the items in stock.

The Universal Hand primer that comes with the Natchez kit, I prefer over the one in the original RC kit that requires changing shellholders when changing calibers.

In general, I would say if you have the scratch and want everything that comes in the kit from Natchez, it seems like a good way to go. In either case, you are getting top quality all the way.

Thanks for the advice and the grafs tip. With shipping, Grafs is cheaper, so I am going to go kit shopping with them. I also saw this Lee kit on Grafs (https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog...productId/7524), which is $151 less than the rcbs rockchucker supreme kit after rebate price. That is a significant price difference. Is there enough of a quality & offering difference between the two to justify the price difference?

When comparing the presses, the RCBS RC is much sturdier. Whether you need that much "sturdy" is difficult to answer. I have a RC that is over 40 years old and works like new. I had a Lee Challenger Breechlock that I used more occasionally and broke the linkage on it after a year or so.

On the other bits, there is no comparison quality wise. The RCBS stuff is the kind of quality items you would seek out and buy seperately, the Lee stuff you probably would not buy seperately if it didn't come in the kit (with a few exceptions, but you get the idea).

The one exception I would say is if you can find the Lee Classic Cast single stage, it is less to buy than the RCBS RC Supreme and its every bit its equal sturdy wise. I have one of those on my bench as well, it does all my heaviest tasks now. Quality piece.
