    Nugent .308 Ammo

So I bought a few boxes of the Nugent ammo in .308 because I couldn't find anything else that suited my needs at the time! It's priced as premium ammo for sure, and loaded with Barnes TTSX bullets.

I understand it's a new offering. I couldn't find anything on the internet about how it performed. Well, I went to the range today to get sighted in and thought that since there's no info out there that I'd start the ball rolling and let the world in on my experience. I understand they make a whole line of stuff, but I have zero insight to offer beyond my few shots today... I was shooting the 165gr. loads for .308 win.

I only took a few shots, because that's all it took! This is not a huge sample size (I'm not rich lol), but if everyone posts their results on the web we'll have a good overall idea of the performance of these.

    My results:
My first 3 shot group was under 1" at 100 yards out of my Rem 700 SPS Varmint-- with the crappy factory plastic stock no less. I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with that.

I don't understand why people say that stock 700 stocks are garbage?

You just said your gun shoots MOA with factory ammo... And your not happy with it?

I also have a 700 that shoots MOA and sub MOA with my hand loads.

I'm really not understanding how they are junk?

Sorry to be off topic but just wondering

It's flimsy plastic that the barrel sits on. No bedding of any kind is even possible. While the accuracy attained with this stock is by no means disappointing, it's a given that this will improve noticeably with a quality stock installed.

Sniper Central did a review of the same rifle and had similar accuracy to what I've seen (okay, theirs was a little better :P). They changed to a nice HS Precision fiberglass stock with an aluminum bedding block and it cut the group size a good bit! A nice HS or MacMillan stock is next on my wish list

I'm selling the stock from my 5R. It's brand new. Also have the bottom metal. PM me if you're interested.

          sorry, had to
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
