reloading for the M1 Garand

i just bought a 30-06 Lee Classic hand loader kit

and my question is, does this kit re-size the brass enough to be used in the M1?

I have always used a small based die to reload for the M1 Garand. However, using your Lee die, full lenth size one case, place it in your chamber, and close your bolt. If the bolt fully closes without resistance, then your die will properly size cases for your rifle's chamber. Close the bolt without using the op rod spring, just use your hand to close the bolt.

Why so, if it has already been resized?

Incase the base is oversize and the dies do not resize it enought to funtion.
Especially since it is a hand loader and not a press. Have you used a lee hand loader before? If you have it would be more understandable.----Take care and have fun

This must be what is happening to my 223 brass. About 30% of my brass does not fit in the case gauge after resizing. It sticks out about 1mm. I am currently using Redding 223 dies. I may have to switch to RCBS AR small base reloading dies...=(

Can anyone confirm this for me as being the reason for my problem?

without seeing the casings I cant but that is the reason for small base dies. If you are going to buy them try and get the x dies and eliminate trimming in the future.

Are your dies adjusted all the way down so the press cams over? That could be the trouble. "Myself" I always try to use small base dies for semi-auto/pump actions. The brass also works just fine in bolt actions.
Yes you may get 1-2 less reloads out of the brass but that has never been a problem for me.
Others think differently so you make up your own mind.
