There are definitely worse choices but I personally don't like 700X due to its poor metering. There are other powders that return similar accuracy with much more accruate drop to drop consistency, at least in powder drops like Dillon and Lee AD Pro's.

It is a nice fast, accurate powder for .45ACP. If you do decide to go with it, maybe stay mid-range or lower just to make sure you don't over charge. At least until you get familiar with how it drops in your setup.

I use it in 45ACP/9mm/38special/light 357mag and 44 mag loads. Works great meatering is not as easy as Win231 but I have a bunch of it and have used it for years with excellent results.

Good stuff for pistol rounds in pistols. Metering is so so.

I have been using 700X for 30 years

One thing I was recently told was that it burns really clean

We were doing an exercise where one person would shoot and the other would coach. My coach was impressed with how clean the powder burned

I used a Little Dandy for most of my loading. Now that I have a 650, I may change powders, as it meters in consistence with the Dillon powder measure

                  +1

It does not meter as well as W231.

I thought 800x had the metering issue? 700x is a flake powder but has relatively tiny granules.. it's always metered just fine for me.. Dillon, RCBS, and MEC powder bars all had no issues..

700x always meters great out of my uniflow w/baffel. It's one of my favorite powders.

I just bought 4lbs of 700X and 5lbs of IME 4064 today from Third Generation Shooters Supply. Both seem to be very versatile and clean burning powders that work well in a variety of calibers.

It'll work, but I'd go with something with a lower relative quickness like 4756 or LongShot, especially if it will be shot from a carbine. 7.5-8.0gr does well if you want to shoot something more than a fluff round. The micro charge you need to use with 700X(5-5.5gr) will be like shooting snails from your gun.
