Reloading die ???, 45 acp die difference?

    What is the difference between the following 45 acp reloading dies and might one set be better at certain operations;

    RCBS 3-Die Carb TC .45 ACP/AR/GAP, #18915

Redding Titanium Carbide #88189, 45 ACP & AR

    Many Thanks

The RCBS comes with a separate crimp die, but no expander die (to expand the case mouth prior to bullet seating). You will need to have a way to bell the case (universal flaring die, powder through die, separate expander die, etc.)

The Redding set comes with an expander die but no separate crimp die, so you would use the bullet seater die to also crimp.

      This is what I got.

Rcbs comes with 2 seating mandrels. One for round nose and one for wad cutter. I have had a problem with reloading 45 at all

That's the RCBS set with 45 RN/SWC Seater plug pak #702837.

        Am I reading that correctly?

ACP is 45 auto, the standard 1911 round as the good Lord Himself intended it to be. GAP is the Glock Auto Pistol, a foreign/slight knockoff/wannabe/copy variation ( I think a shorter OAL cartridge) but runs higher pressures. also the case walls are thicker. AR is 45 Auto Rim, basically a 45auto with a rim so that it can be used in revolvers. lots of popularity a long time ago when 45's and revolvers were both popular. back in the day of course.

nowadays everybody loves plastic pistols and underpowered rounds. don't know why though. nothing works like classic american metal and big bullets. but hey, to each their own, I say. if they want a pea shooter, then by all means, go for it. real men prefer real guns and real calibers. but I'm really not one to judge

the first die decaps and resizes. the middle die expands the case mouth, the last seats and crimps. since all cartridges shoot the same diameter bullet, and basically the external case dimensions are the same, then the dies are useful for all the rounds. kinda like 380/9mm/38 super or 38/357, et al.

are you loading single stage or progressive?

p.s. if you can't see the sarcasm and humor in the above, please disregard.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

That's everything you need including taper crimp, less shell holder.

I recommend at least 2 shell holders. If not 3. You never know when u have a friend come and reload with you. That's for single stage mind you. If running a progressive you might only need one

Older, used RCBS Rockcrusher press w/primer attachment, no shell holders yet. I have some powder, primers, LSWC 200 gr bullets, and about 1000 brass 45 acp cases.

Yes, that is correct, it does have an expander. That is what I get for looking at the picture on Midway, instead of going to the RCBS site. 18915 has the expander, no separate crimp die. Essentially identical in function then to the Redding dies in your original post.

                          Sorry for any confusion.

See how easy it is to make a mistake! Not quite as bad as a double loaded case.
