I'm not a fan of peg boards. Shelves have worked better for me. If you're building a new bench, make it bigger than you think you need. A lot of light is good also. -
I have come to dislike peg also.
However, if you want to move forward with peg, do not buy a pegboard. Waste of money.
Go to home depot and buy peg and some 1x2. Run the 1x2 on your table saw for a couple passes to make a 1/4"+ groove in it. You dont even need to miter the corners. Slip the peg in the groove and glue/staple the 1x2's together. Mount to the wall through the 1x2.
itll look like this in whatever size you build:

1'x1' up to 4'x8' or bigger.
You can get peg accessories from Agent Orange and Big Blue as well. or wherever.
if you wait long enough like I did, you can score 5-8 pcs of 2'x4' pegbord free and cover your garage walls in peg to play with the concept in every way shape and form compared to tool drawers.
Yep. indeed. Peg is no good.Comment

shelf has the same problem as peg. When you clean your garage by using hte leaf blower, it knocks all the stuff over anyways!Comment

Peg board has worked pretty good for me so far. I bought mine at Orchards for like $7 or something like that.
