Pissed with cheaper than dirt

today i have a few hours before i have to go to work so i decide to watch for ammo deals on one of the ammo bots on the net, alarm sounds for Hornady Varmit express 55 gr .223 exactly what im looking for and its under a buck a round.... I quickly order 5 boxes and my order is confirmed and they are in stock..

not 10 minutes later I get an email from Cheaper than Dirt

Thank you for your order, unfortunately our supplier is unable to supply 6-0308265 Ammo .223 Rem. Hornady Varmint Express V-MAX 55 Grain 20 Round Box.

We have cancelled your order for the item(s). If you paid by credit card, your card will be refunded in the next 2 to 3 business days. If you paid by check or money order, we will issue a refund check.

Now i have my ammo money tied up for at least 2 days till they refund my debit card....

The problem with CTD is their name. They had pride themselves on being one of the lowest cost ammo suppliers. As soon there was an opportunity however, they decided to gouge all there faithful customers, trippling the price, while others sold, or are currently selling for the same price with a limit. The only reason they may be lowering some of there prices is because many of us have boycotted them. When things settle down and they are cheap again, I will still pay a few dollars more and go somewhere else, but that's just me.

I got some nice Indian 303 British from CTD maybe 15 years ago. Otherwise that is about it. Recently I have not heard anything positive. YMMV

That's not the problem at all. They are located in America and free to run their business the way they want to. I fully support their right to price their products any way they want to! If you don't like their prices, go somewhere else. If you don't like the fact that they have the freedom to set their own prices, move to another country! However, they have some anti-Ca 2A policies that they try to claim to be "the law". This is the real problem with them. They publish their policies in their catalogs in a misleading way and many mom and pop shops assume they actually know what they are doing so, these smaller shops follow in CTD's footsteps and refuse to send legal items to certain places. In the end, CTD does a better job keeping legal firearms related products from coming into CA than all the other anti-2A organizations combined.

I would add that you want to get a prepaid credit card for online purchased. Never use a card directly tied to your bank account. If the worst happens and someone gets that info they could wipe out your entire account for days or weeks until the bank sorts it out.
