I purchased several thousand once fired .38spl and .45acp from a couple of sellers on GunBroker.Com. Prices ranged from about $15/1K to $20/1K. most were already tumbled with the used primers in.
Today was at Karl's Hardware in Rosamond and they recieved a shipment of primers, ammo, shotshells and bullets but prices were up. SPP/LPP/LRP were $5.99/1K and Berry's plaited bullets were $39/250. If you don't care about waiting 4-8 weeks you can buy direct from Berry's in Utah and get a big discount plus if you buy something like more than $80 worth they ship free! I bought 500/.38 & 500/.45 and they shipped free and took 4 weeks on the backorder. They come in cardboard not the plastic boxes but who cares.Comment

Shipping on 1,000 .38 or .45 cases would be at least $12 for a flat-rate box. Not sure why anyone would bother posting brass on gunbroker at less than the local scrapyard would pay.Comment

Thanks!
When I picked up the gun, I was given the privledge of buyin 100 rounds of .38.
It was $20 for 50 rounds. I've never bought .38 before, but that's a touch high I'd think. However, the brass makes it worth it (and the easiness of keeping the brass!)
They also had .357 ... $75/50.... Whoa! I stuck to the .38.
Now to find some molds ...==================

Anyhoo ... If I supplement my meager supplies of .38/.357 brass, is it better to buy .38 spc or .357 mag brass?
Mostly, I'd be loading probably regular .38 spc power level loads.
I'm aware also that .357 mag cases would "fit" the chamber better, but are there concerns about there being too much space in the case for just enough powder for .38 level loads?
I also bought 500 pieces of new Starline .357 brass to use for my full power Big Dogs. You could load Magnums in used brass but I would inspect the brass closely.
I have a batch of .357 mixed range pickups on the WTS board right now. Make me an offer."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
