    I just read this thread about this winchester shooting black powder, I have a marlin from 1949 does it use black powder and just what is black powder?

    You're going to have to add more details about the rifle type and cartridge.

      How do you know if it's from 1949? If it is 1949, then it uses smokeless powder, not BP
