    NEW TO RELIADING

I just got my lee classic turret setup for .223 and been loading that for about a month now. I just got my .45 dies and will set that one soon. Can anyone suggest what kind if primer do I use and powder recommendation? I will be reloading for my kimber custom II TRL. Thanks

      Primers:

Assuming you are talking .45 acp-size matters. Primer size that is-and it depends on the brass you are reloading. Some ammo mfgs. (Federal I think) use small pistol primers, and others use large. Check your brass. For convenience I tossed the 200 or so fed cases into the recycle bin simply cuz I didn't want to fool with that few for small primers. Other than that, whatever brand you can find these days. I just finished up 5000 winchester LPP's and about to try some lead free Tula.

      Powders:

Again, assuming .45 acp, W-231, Titegroup, and Bullseye are very popular for this caliber. I have tried W-231 and Titegroup-and have a mild preference for the TG. When I run low on that, I'm going to try and get some Bullseye for comparison.

From my own experience, if you are using the Lee auto-disc dispenser, stay away from Unique. I have tried it, and it just doesn't seem to meter well in the auto-disc. Others here have voiced similar observations to mine.

Now, if your talking .45 colt, try some trailboss-if you can find it. It is a great powder for the colt cartridge.

        That pretty much covers it.
When asked what qualities he most valued in his generals, Napoleon said, "give me lucky ones."
