    40 s&w with TG

Anyone here tried 180 gr berrys over 3.8 of titegtoup , 1.13 oal with their glocks ? Saw a you tube video and it appears the round is very accurate at 15 yards...

On their website, hodgdon starts at 4.2 with a max of 4.7..

TG and the .40 are not a good mix... The .40 is already a high pressure round and TG is a fast powder. In addition to that due to the light charges the possibility of a double charge which would lead to a KB increase. I know a lot of competition shooters use it, but guns and hands are valuable...

I would lean hard towards W231 as the fastest powder I would use.

I disagree. TG is a great powder for the 40 and there is no possibility of a double charge if you are competent. By your definition, TG is not suitable for any application due to the dmall charge volume.

The Lee 2nd edition shows a 4.2 to 4.7 gr range for TG and this bullet weight as well.

WRT to this, all I can say is "krock"!

            Point by point, here's why:

Well, thats why the loading manuals list specific loads for each powder and projectile, and why they include a DO NOT EXCEED value.

That has nothing to do with the powder or the caliber and everything to do with the person doing the reloading. If you aren't paying attention to your work, you are courting disaster, and no powder is going to save you from it. The VMD for W231 is only 8% greater than TG, and only a fool would look to powder density to save him from an overcharge.

A common practice among reloaders, and especially those that shoot competitively is reducing recoil and still making minimum power levels. And a very effective method to achieve this is to use a heavier bullet and a faster powder (with the proper charge weight of course). So those competitors are doing just that.

In this particular burn rate chart:

TG is #12 and W 231 is #26-out of a 170 some odd powders..... Not much difference in burn rate relatively. And in the Lee manual, they are even closer.

All in all there is not a significant difference between the two, and TG is no more "dangerous" than W231 as long as the reloader pays attention to charge weights. TG will work just fine.

I load 4.4gr with an Extreme 165gr and really like it. I did try 4.8gr and although my buddy likes it I like the 4.4gr much better.

I've been shooting 180gr Bear Creek and Precsion with 4.4 gr of TG to make USPSA major power factor without problems for about 4 years now since I picked a Glock 35 to shoot at the matches. It's a great accurate load in my gun. Only negative is it can get smokey when the moly coating from these bullets gets fried from the hi temp TG functions at.

                    Yes. I'm shooting a Glock 24 which has a 25oz slide (G22 has a 22oz slide). Read this:
