Does anyone have a cool trick for getting all the primers shiny side up?

It would make it so much easier charging the primer feed tube is the little suckers were all anvil up in the CCI boxes so when I slide them open on the bench they came out shiny side up. There has to be a trick out there. I hate turning them over one at a time.

Pick up a primer flip tray, the kind with the grooves in the surface on one side. You just pour the primers into the tray, shake it back and forth and all the primers end up anvil side up in no time.

Shake them on a primer tray so they are all anvil up.

Not rocket science.

Are you trying to get them anvil up or cup up? They should be in the tray cup up (shiny side up), more or less.

Take a piece of cardboard and place on top of the open sleeve of primers.
Invert and lift off the sleeve, now you have anvils facing up.
Place a second piece of cardboard over the primers.
Invert and remove the top cardboard, now you have cup up again.

35 years and never had/saw a paper catalog? (Remember those?) That was the great thing about paper, you could peruse it while in the executive reading room and be exposed to something you wouldn't have know existed. So many of the newb questions would be answered if they had a Midway catalog, or Graf's, or Natchez.

I still have some catalogs from the mid 90's, amazing how cheap everything was. 1k 55gr FMJ .224 bullets, $34.86 Winchester brand. RCBS primer flip tray $2.84.

Back then you bought books, read magazines, read catalogs to figure out reloading.

Still glad Brownells sends out that HUGE yearly paper catalog , wide pages so it sits flat without effort.

Funny you mentioned 55gr FMJ bullets, was clearing out some storage boxes the other day ...and found two 250 count bags of them labeled 8 dollars each ( Bought em at a gun show, no clue what year ). 16 bucks for 500 bullets, those were the days.

This winter I loaded up the last 6000 old stock 55gr Hornady SPSX bullets and CCI small rifle mag primers for my 223 that were $3.29/ box of bullets and $.89/ tray of primers. Still have 1-2K of primers of those but used up all the bullets.
Loaded up some pistol ammo with the last of my Alcan powder that was about $3/lb. Came in a metal can with a pop top.
Looking for more bullets at that price and primers. I will wait until the panic buying is over before I get serious about looking to buy.

True. I learned so much about reloading from those catalogs. Spent lot of money too
